I spent decades as a journalist specializing in international affairs. Based at the United Nations in New York from 1987 to 2016, I worked for the National Journal Group, Inter Press Service, and The InterDependent. I covered peacekeeping missions in Namibia and Mozambique and UN conferences in Geneva, Vienna, and Monterrey (Mexico). My work has appeared in The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, World Policy Journal, Arms Control Today, In These Times, and A Global Agenda.
In addition, I have worked on issues including climate change, international law, development, and arms control as a speechwriter and an analyst. Most recently, I was a speechwriter for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, based in Bonn, Germany.
